The "Hatsushima Fishermen's Bowl Battle" is held every year in early spring. Thirteen restaurants run by fishermen on the island and restaurants at the resort facility "PICA Hatsushima" participated. The fisherman's shop is a restaurant in front of Hatsushima Port. During the period, each store's original rice bowl menu will be offered using Izu-like seafood such as Medina, Takabe, golden snapper, and turban shrimp, as well as Izu's specialty vegetable Ashitaba.
On the occasion of the event, Fuji Marine Resort, which operates the ferry, will sell tickets for round-trip boarding tickets for "Atami" ~ "Hatsushima" and a set of meal tickets common to all stores. The price is 3,990 yen for adults and 2,800 yen for children (online reservations are cheaper). Tickets can be purchased at the Atami Port boarding window or on a special website.
"Hatsushima" is a small remote island with accommodation about 2 hours from Tokyo. It is popular as a spot to admire early-blooming cherry blossoms such as Atami cherry blossoms and Kawazu cherry blossoms, which bloom from early spring, and daffodils.
Local access is from JR Atami Station by bus (about 20 minutes) or taxi (about 15 minutes) to "Atami Port". By ferry, "Atami Port" ~ "Hatsushima Port" (about 30 minutes). The restaurant area is open from 11:00~15:00. The last ferry departs from Hatsushima Port at 17:50.
