"Minakami 3 Dam Spring Inspection Large Release 2023" will be held (5/20/21)|Spring tradition to enjoy water wetness
In May 2023, an event will be held to enjoy tours at the dam facilities in conjunction with the spring tradition of "Inspection Large Discharge" held at three dams in Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, which is responsible for the Kanto region. The event was organized by the Tourism Association and other organizations of the Inspection and Discharge Executive Committee.

The dams are "Yagizawa Dam", "Naramata Dam", and "Fujiwara Dam" in the Okutone area of Minakami Town. Every year before the rainy season, each dam conducts an inspection and release of water to confirm that the dam's discharge equipment is operating safely. On the day of the event, events such as a tour of the embankment, a tour of the facility, and a marche will be held.
The release date and time are 9:30~14:00 on Saturday, May 20 at Fujiwara Dam, and 12:00~16:30 on the same day at Naramata Dam. Yagisawa Dam will be open on Sunday, May 21 at 8:00~17:00. Water is released twice (morning and afternoon) within each dam time.
A ticket is required for the site visit. Tickets are sold at Seven-Eleven and accommodation facilities in the town. Details of the event, including the details of the event, will be announced on the official website of the Tourism Association at a later date.
The dam features the Fujiwara Dam, which is known for its inspection and release of up to 100 tons per second, and the Naramata Dam, a rockfill dam made of rock-filled rock, which is known as the queen of dams. The Yagizawa Dam has a total storage capacity of 200 million tons. The executive committee says, "The momentum of the 30-ton release per second that you can observe up close is impressive."
