Miyajima temporarily closed due to the Hiroshima Summit|Hatsukaichi City strategically plans tourism PR

In conjunction with the G7 Hiroshima Summit (5/19~21) to be held in Hatsukaichi City, Hiroshima Prefecture, the city has announced that Miyajima will be closed for 3 days from 18th (Thursday) ~ 20th (Saturday) when the leaders visit Miyajima, a tourist attraction.

During the closure period, access to the island will be restricted with an identification card issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Residents and businesses on the island will be issued identification cards, but tourists will not be able to enter the island, which will affect the tourism industry. In March, the city's Summit Promotion Office held a briefing session for businesses, requesting that accommodation reservations be suspended, cancellations for those who made reservations, and shops to close. Please note that there is no guarantee of business from the host country of the summit to the operator.

The Hatsukaichi City Tourism Division said, "The day before the summit, we will release a new promotional video for Miyajima, and we will also distribute a special press kit to domestic and foreign media. The city still has a wealth of tourism resources that have been reconsidered by the Corona disaster. I would like to actively promote them."
