At New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido, an "airport piano" has been permanently installed on the second floor of the connecting facility since Saturday, April 29, and is being used by travelers.

In recent years, street pianos, which are installed in train stations, airports, and commercial facilities around the world, have become popular as a tool for communication in open spaces.
The piano installed at New Chitose Airport is a high-quality Yamaha upright piano and is installed on the second floor of the connecting facility on the side of the International Terminal Building. During the terminal opening hours of 5 a.m. ~ 11 p.m., anyone can freely perform and visit.
Currently, the only street piano installed at an airport in Hokkaido is New Chitose Airport, and it is limited to major airports nationwide such as Haneda Airport, Narita Airport, Itami Airport (until July 2023), and Chubu Centrair International Airport.
New Chitose Airport says, "The reason for installing the piano was a passionate request from tourists, and we want to deliver a wonderful memory of our trip to Hokkaido through the piano."
