Less than 80% of amusement parks have raised prices since July last year-Affected by soaring utility costs and purchases|Tokyo Shoko Research Survey
Tokyo Shoko Research (TSR) today released the results of a survey showing that prices at amusement parks and leisure facilities have been on the rise since July last year. Cost-push inflation that has been ongoing since last year has been affected by rising utility costs and purchase prices.

According to a survey by TSR, in the last one year since July 2022, 62 of the 107 major amusement parks and leisure facilities in Japan have announced price increases or price revisions, or about 60%. At amusement parks, 16 out of 21 facilities raised prices.

The breakdown of facilities that have seen price increases is 16 amusement parks (25.8% of the total), 15 aquariums (24.1%), and 13 zoos and safari parks (20.9%).

By type of business, amusement parks accounted for 76.1%, aquariums (65.2%), parks and athletics (61.5%), and theme parks (52.6%), accounting for more than half. Zoos and safari parks accounted for 41.9%, less than half.
Amusement parks and aquariums require electricity to operate and maintain their facilities and attractions, and an increase in electricity bills will lead to a deterioration in profits. If you reach the limit of cost savings, price increases are inevitable. This summer's leisure season, when cost-push inflation has caused prices to soar due to cost-push inflation from last year and there will be no restrictions on movement for the first time in four years, is likely to affect the household budgets of families.
