Aokigahara Jukai Walking Event for free (August 25) 400 participants are being recruited.
On Sunday, August 25, 2024, the walking event "Healthy Tree Sea Walk" will be held at the Aokigahara Forest at the foot of Mt. Fuji in Yamanashi Prefecture. Approximately 400 participants are expected to attend, and the event will be hosted by Yamanashi Prefecture and Fujikawaguchiko Town.

The event will be held around Aokigahara Jukaikai, West Lake Wild Bird Forest Park, and Fugaku Wind Cave. There are two types of courses: a 5km course and a 10km course where you can listen to commentary on forest animals and plants from the guide. The meeting point is West Lake Wild Bird Forest Park Registration starts at 9:30 a.m. and departure ceremony starts at 10:00 a.m. The goal is scheduled for 12:30~14:00.
The Aokigahara Forest tends to have a scary image due to the influence of TV dramas, but you can enjoy walking safely by walking along the well-maintained promenades and mountain trails. The Aokigahara Forest is a vast virgin forest formed on lava flowing from the eruption of Mt. Fuji, and you can feel the wilderness that spreads at the foot of Mt. Fuji.
Participation in the event is free, and participation souvenirs are also provided. Participation is Advance booking Required. The application deadline is Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Accident insurance will also be provided at the expense of the organizer. Last year, nearly 400 people from inside and outside the prefecture participated. Although the content is different, the participation fee for the Aokigahara Jukai trekking tour provided by the activity operator is more than 6,000 yen per person.
For on-site access, a free bus (departing at 9:15) runs from Kawaguchiko Station on the Fujikyuko Line. Advance reservations are required to get on the train, and there is also a bus to "Kawaguchiko Station" after the event.
Fujikawaguchiko Town advertises that "I want you to know the beauty of the lively forest of the Aokigahara Sea of Trees, and after walking through a forest with so tall trees that you can't see the sky, Mt. Fuji will greet you at the finish line."
