Enjoy the crab soup of the whole Seiko crab "Mikuni Minato Crab Festival 2024" will be held.
The "Mikuni Minato Kani Festival 2024" will be held on Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17, 2024 at a special venue at Mikuni Sunset Beach in Sakai City, Fukui Prefecture. At the venue, there will be a variety of booths, including a special sales corner in Echizen, "Mikuni Gourmet Yokocho" where you can enjoy local gourmets, and a "freshly caught market" where you can find fresh seafood and processed seafood products. Of particular note is the specialty "Crab Soup", which uses one whole cup of "Seiko crab", and will be sold for a limited time of 2,500 meals for two days (price undecided as of 10/29).
The event will be held from 6:00~15:00 on both days.
For local access, get off at Ashihara Onsen Station on the Hokuriku Shinkansen and take the Keifuku Bus (Higashihirobo Line) to Sunset Beach-mae for about 45 minutes. Alternatively, get off at Fukui Station, take the Echizen Railway to Mikuniko Station for about 50 minutes, and then walk for 5 minutes. The venue is located about 5 minutes by car from Dongjiebo.
The ban on fishing in Echizen will be lifted on Wednesday, November 6th. Echizen is a male snow crab that is landed at a fishing port in Fukui Prefecture and has a yellow tag on its legs.
In addition, in November and December, a female snow crab "Seiko crab" also hits the market. Seiko crab is characterized by the inner child of the ovary, the crab miso, and the bubble-wrapped outer child (fertilized egg), and you can feel the difference in crab miso, which is important for freshness, when you taste it locally.
In addition, the selling price of one crab was 30,000 yen ~ 60,000 yen for Echizen and 700 yen ~ 4,000 yen for Seiko crab last year, but it will vary depending on the landing situation after the fishing ban is lifted.
