Mt. Hakkai Ski Resort in Niigata Minamiuonuma|Event to play in natural snow in midsummer
Mt. Hakkai Ski Resort in Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture will hold an event "Summer Sky Snow Festival in Hakkaisan" for two days on Saturday, July 23 and Sunday, July 24, where you can play with natural snow in the winter season in midsummer. This is the first time in three years that the event has been held.
The highlight of the event was a 25-meter sledding slope built near the ropeway summit station at an altitude of 1,147 meters using the snow that had been stored since the end of the winter season.
At the venue, there will be stalls of food and drinks and product shops such as eight-color watermelon from the local Minamiuonuma, as well as stage attractions such as a yuru character show, live music by artists, and a rock-paper-scissors tournament.
Admission is free. Round-trip ropeway tickets are 2,200 yen for adults and 1,100 yen for children. If you purchase a round-trip ticket, you can ride the ropeway as much as you want on the day.
The event will be held from 10:00~15:00 each day. The first ropeway train departs at 8:00.
