JTB leaks about 10,000 personal information in the Japan Tourism Agency business|18 selected businesses download

The Japan Tourism Agency (JTA) and JTB announced on Tuesday, October 25 that JTB, a subsidiary of the government's "Project for the Creation of Profitable Signboard Products in the Region Utilizing Region's Unique Tourism Resources," has leaked the personal information of applicants involved in the project to the selected businesses.

JTB個人情報漏洩

The leaks involved 1,698 application documents containing personal information of up to 11,483 people, as well as grant applications. This includes information such as organization name, department name, job title, name, business phone number, and email address.
The cause was an error in the individual access permissions of the data stored in the cloud service managed by JTB. Application documents and subsidy applicant information can be viewed by businesses with login authority.

In the survey, it was found that 18 adopted businesses, such as transportation operators, travel agencies, and local governments, downloaded personal information. JTB asked each business operator to delete the deletion and confirmed that all the cases had been deleted. "Each business operator downloaded a ZIP file that does not know the inside, so there is no malicious intent" (Japan Tourism Agency). The Japan Tourism Agency and JTB have said that they will "thoroughly implement a system and management to prevent recurrence."
