In addition, I stayed at an inn that was renovated from an abandoned school that started with a terakoya in an unexplored area of heavy snowfall. We offer a limited accommodation plan to experience art works and guided tours of walking on snowy roads wearing kanjiki unique to snowy countries (March 4~5, 11~12).
The Earth Art Festival is an art project that began in 2000 with the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale. The Triennale is held once every three years, and recently a year-round program on the theme of the four seasons. The Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Collaborative Organization, a non-profit organization that runs the Earth Art Festival, says, "Winter is the actual Echigo-Tsumari festival, and although this festival is in the green season, the winter program that makes use of the traditional culture and wisdom of the region is a sight to behold."
