Hina dolls are displayed on the steps of the 118-step shrine at Izu Inatori Onsen|Cherry blossom events in the suburbs
From February 18 (Sat) ~ March 12 (Sun), 2023, the "Sobonnari Shrine Hina Dan Decoration" will be held at the Susao Shrine in Higashi-Izu Inatori Onsen, where hina dolls will be displayed on the stairs of the shrine. The event is organized by the Inatori Onsen Cooperative.
The "Sobonnari Shrine Hina Dan Decoration" is the centerpiece event held within the main event "Hina no Tsurushi Decoration Festival" (until 3/31). Sobonari Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Susanoo, the god of exorcism, and is located overlooking the Inatori Fishing Port.
Hina dolls and hanging ornaments of chicks are displayed on the stairs of the shrine, which has 118 steps. It is said that "the number of display stages of Hina dolls is the highest in Japan" (hot spring association). During the period, a special red seal will be awarded at Sobonnari Shrine. There is also a special stall near the shrine that sells limited crepes and Inatori's specialty "celebration mochi".
The exhibition time is around 10:00~15:00. The exhibition work is held from around 9:30 every morning. Travelers who are interested in the work may be able to experience volunteering by contacting them in advance (hot spring association).
This event, "Hina no Hanging Decoration Festival", will exhibit chick hanging decorations at "Cultural Park Hina no Kan" (until 3/31). In the suburbs, Kawazu Town "Kawazu Cherry Blossom Festival" (2/1~2/28) and Minami Izu Town "Minami no Cherry Blossom and Rape Flower Festival" (2/10~3/10) are being held.
