Orion Beer to make fruit wine at a tourist farm in Itoman City|Utilization of Itoman's mango and passion fruit
On Thursday, March 9, 2023, Orion Beer Co., Ltd. announced that it has been selected as the operator of a sake brewing facility in the "Itoman City Tourism Farm Facility" publicly solicited by Itoman City, Okinawa Prefecture.
Orion Beer plans to utilize the sake brewing facilities at the Itoman City Tourism Farm to develop fruit wines that utilize local fruits such as passion fruit and mango from Itoman City, and to enhance its new product lineup. This is the first time that the company has produced wine.
The company has already started developing fruit wines at other plants. After moving into the facility in April this year, development will begin as quickly as possible, and the new product will be launched by the end of 2024.
Itoman City Tourist Farm is a tourist facility with tropical orchard management, acerola farm, park golf, etc. The site area of the sake brewery is about 1,149 square meters, and the building is 994 square meters.
Orion Beer says, "We want to contribute to the promotion of farming and shipment of Itoman fruits, and although we do not currently plan to accept tours of the facility, we would like to consider accepting tourists in the future."
