Appreciation of Mr. Shimizu's garden in Okayama (6/4)|Celebrating the designation of the National Registered Monument

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, a special viewing party will be held at the Shimizu Gardens in Ikuehama, Kasaoka City, Okayama Prefecture. In response to the designation of the site as a national registered monument in March this year, the 15th head of the Shimizu family, Mr. Shimizu Masato, will provide an explanation.

Shimizu's garden was a coastline until it was reclaimed in the Edo period, and the design of the garden is characterized by the use of the reef as it is. At the viewing party, you can hear a detailed explanation of why Mr. Shimizu's garden was designated as a national registered monument, the history of the garden, and the characteristics of the garden.

 

The viewing party will be held three times on Sunday, June 4 at 10 o'clock ~, 11 o'clock ~, and 13 o'clock ~, with a capacity of 10 people each time. The journey takes about 1 hour. The participation fee is 1,000 yen (with souvenirs). The meeting point is the parking lot of the Gimpo Community Center in Kasaoka City, a 5-minute walk from the Shimizu Garden. The Kasaoka Tourism Association commented, "Since the garden is a private home, there are few opportunities for it to be open to the public, and such an appreciation event is a very valuable opportunity."
