Commemorating the release of the movie "Daimyo Bankruptcy" |Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture started offering salted salmon "First Gozen"

In Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture, from June 23, 2023, to commemorate the release of the movie "Daimyo Bankruptcy", a special menu "Ohatsu Gozen" using the famous salted salmon is being offered at restaurants in the city.

The movie "Daimyo Bankruptcy" is based on the original novel by popular author Jiro Asada, and Murakami's specialty "salted salmon" plays an important role. The film follows the story of Koshiro Magaki (Ryunosuke Kamiki), the son of a salmon official from the Echigo Tanyuyama clan (Nibuyamahan), who is modeled after the Echigo Murakami clan, and pays off a huge debt. In the play, a scene of salmon fishing filmed in the Mimen River in Murakami City is shown. In addition, salted salmon was brought from Murakami City to the Kyoto Shochiku Studio, where filming took place, and a local processor instructed the actors who appear in the film on how to process salted salmon.

To commemorate the film's release, the local tourism association will offer "First Gozen" (1300 yen ~ 3850 yen) using salted salmon at 12 restaurants in the city until Sunday, July 31. The period varies depending on each store. In addition, on Sunday, July 23rd, a "tour where you can experience the world of daimyo bankruptcy" (9800 yen) will be held.
