Aomori Prefecture Hongan Railway's special charter train for a railroad man's work experience|One-day limited special tour held

On Saturday, August 19, 2023, a special tour will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at the Hongnan Railway in Aomori Prefecture, where you can experience the work of a railroad man. This is the first time this project has been held, and the organizer is the Hirosaki City and other members of the Hirosaki City and other parts of the Hongnan Railway Revitalization Support Council.

The inaugural special tour will depart from and arrive at Hirosaki Station on the Hirosaki Railway, and participants will experience the work of station staff up close and personal, experience the work of a railroad man, such as riding in the cab and conductor, entering the Hiraga Station Depot Line while on the train, operating a Russell car, and observing the hammering and wheel grinding work.

On the day of the event, meet at 12:50 ~ dismiss at 17:00. The participation fee is 12,000 yen for adults (junior high school students and older), 6,000 yen for elementary school students, and free for infants accompanied by adults. Capacity is 50 people on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications are accepted by Japan Travel Tohoku Aomori Branch by e-mail and fax (deadline 8/10).

The Hongnan Railway continues to be in the red, and some lines are facing the danger of being suspended. Hirosaki City and local governments along the line established the Hironan Railway Revitalization Support Council Utilization Promotion Subcommittee in Reiwa 3. The Hirosaki City Regional Transportation Division, the secretariat, said, "This is the first time this experience has been held, and it is recommended for parents and children in the second half of the summer vacation." Sightseeing tours to and from Tokyo Station are also being planned.
