Noetsu Expressway Wajima Road opens until "Noto Mitsui IC" on September 16|Next stop is the final point "Wajima IC"
On Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3 p.m., the section (4.7 km long) of the Noetsu Expressway Wajima Road, which is being developed by the Kanazawa River National Highway Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, will open to traffic (4.7 km in length).

The construction of the first phase of Wajima Road, "Noto Satoyama Airport IC" ~ "Noto Mitsui IC", began in 2013 and took about 11 years to complete. With the opening, there will be only one section left (6.8 km extension) to the final point "Wajima IC". Before the opening on the 16th, parking on the road is prohibited.

The Kanazawa River National Highway Road Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism said, "Many people have been involved in road maintenance over the past 11 years, and we are sincerely grateful to the local community. There is a feeling that the situation has been settled, but the prospect of completion of the construction of the second phase has not yet been decided. I want to work on it with a new mindset."
The Noetsu Expressway is a general national highway that connects the western part of Toyama Prefecture and the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, and is about 100 km long. The road connects to the Hokuriku Expressway and the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway from the Noto direction, and connects to the three major metropolitan areas of Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

When the second phase of the Wajima Road "Noto Mitsui IC" ~ "Wajima IC" is fully opened, it is expected to be a convenient road for tourists, a shortening of transportation time for local residents, and a safe road in the event of a disaster.
