At the Yui Fishing Port in Suruga Bay, the ban on autumn fishing for "cherry shrimp" will be lifted on November 1, and fishing will continue until Monday, December 25. During the fishing season, freshly caught cherry shrimp menus are offered at the fishing cooperative's directly managed "Hama Kakiageya" at Yui Fishing Port and restaurants in Shizuoka City.

Cherry shrimp is a rare resource that can only be found in Suruga Bay and Taiwan in the world, and it can only be eaten raw from Suruga Bay. At "Hama Kakiageya" at Yui Fishing Port, raw cherry shrimp that have been caught are served freshly caught during the autumn fishing season. The recommended "Raw Cherry Shrimp Bowl" and "Kakiage Bowl" are both priced at 1,000 yen. In addition, "kakiage soba and udon" are also sold.

 

Business hours are 10:00~14:00 on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays (also when it ends around noon), and number tags are distributed from 7:00 a.m. and lines up in order from 9:50 a.m. In addition, the direct sales office in the fishing port opens at 8:00.

 

The cherry shrimp fishery in Suruga Bay leaves the fishing port at midnight and returns in the morning. At night, cherry shrimp are caught in nets as they rise from the deep sea to near the surface of the sea. In Suruga Bay, it is landed only at Yui Fishing Port and Oigawa Fishing Port.

 

The sister of the Yui Fisheries Cooperative says, "I recommend the rare raw cherry shrimp, but I highly recommend the kakiage, and 80% or 90% of the kakiage is packed with cherry shrimp."
