"Secret Fair" held in Himi City, a sacred place for cold yellowtail fishing (12/1~)|When will the cold weather be declared this season?
In Himi City, Toyama Prefecture, the "Secret Fair" will be held from December 1, 2023 (Friday) ~ February 29, 2024 (Thursday), where you can enjoy the winter taste of Toyama Bay and cold yellowtail cuisine. The event is organized by an executive committee of the Tourism Association.

During the fair, 27 restaurants and accommodations in the city will serve their own original buri dishes, such as buri sashimi, buri shabu, and buri radish. At inns and guest houses, there are many sets and set meals, and rice bowls are also served at restaurants in Himibanya Street in the market.
In addition, if you order buri cuisine at a participating restaurant, 3 people will be selected by lottery to win 10,000 yen worth of meals, and 10 people will win 5,000 yen worth of meals. In addition, on Sunday, January 21, a gourmet event "Buri, Bonito, Burizukushi" will be held at the Himi Fishing Port Outer Market Himibanya Street.
Normally, Himi's cold yellowtail begins to enter the fixed net fishing off the coast of Himi around November, and is in season from December to January, and is landed until around February at the longest. The local fishery cooperative determines the size and number of fish caught and publishes a "Secret Cold Declaration" bearing the brand name. Last year, the declaration was issued on November 26. If there is no catch that meets the standard, brand management is carried out to postpone the declaration.
* Postscript: On Saturday, December 23, the "Secret Cold Declaration" was issued. This season has been the third-slowest declaration ever.
