A total of 82 employees (8 employees from the Maintenance Division and 74 employees from ANA Airport Service) were found to have cheated between August 2022 ~ February 2024, and a total of 16 employees (3 from JAL Royal Catering and 13 employees of JAL Sky) were found to have cheated by referring to textbooks during exams between September 2023 ~ January 2024. In both ANA and JAL, it is alleged that the proctor allowed the examinee to view the textbook during the exam.

This fraudulent activity was informed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and subsequently an internal investigation was conducted by both groups, and it was revealed through a report to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. The revelation of fraud has shown that there are problems with the airline's corporate culture and supervisory structure in obtaining the knowledge and certification process required for safe driving in airports.

In addition, if you are found to have cheated in the general national qualification exam, you will be disqualified from the exam and disqualified from taking the exam for two years. In addition, if you are found guilty of falling under Article 223 of the Penal Code (fraudulent obstruction of business), you may be punished with imprisonment for up to three years or a fine of up to 500,000 yen.

Currently, ANA and JAL Group companies have suspended vehicle driving tests. Both ANA and JAL have commented that they will work to prevent recurrence.
