In Minakami Town, Gunma Prefecture, a tour event will be held on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19, 2024, to coincide with the annual "inspection and release of water" at three dams in Okutone. It is organized by the local tourism association. (Photo: Naramata Dam, known as the queen of dams)

The inspection and release of water from the three dams in the Okutone area (Fujiwara, Naramata, and Yagizawa) is carried out to inspect the operation of the dam's discharge equipment ahead of the flood season. The event dates for visiting each dam are "Fujiwara Dam" and "Naramata Dam" on Saturday, May 18, and "Yagizawa Dam" on Sunday, May 19. Each dam has its own characteristics, such as the Fujiwara Dam, where you can enjoy the inspection and discharge of up to 100 tons per second, the Naramata Dam, which is beautifully shaped and called the queen of dams, and the Yagizawa Dam, where you can enjoy the wetting of the discharge.
In addition to the inspection and release event, facility tours and special product marches are held. The Naramata Dam Night Tour will also be held.
The tour fee is 1,500 yen for adults at the Fujiwara Dam and Naramata Dam, and 1,000 yen for adults at the Yagisawa Dam. Both are 500 yen for children, and preschoolers are free. Participation tickets and parking tickets will be sold in advance at Seven-Eleven from April 1st. Priority admission and parking tickets are available for guests of participating accommodations.
