Hachinohe's specialty "Tatehana Wharf Morning Market" starts this term from dawn on March 17

In Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture, one of the largest morning markets in Japan, "Tatehana Wharf Morning Market", will start this term from March 17, 2024 (Sunday). The event was organized by the Cooperative Minato Sunday Morning Market Association.

The Tatehana Wharf Morning Market originated from a black market that started in Minato-cho, Hachinohe City after the war, and moved to the current Tatehana district in 2004 and is held as a morning market with a long history. Every Sunday from mid-March to December every year, about 300 stores open in a venue that stretches about 800 meters, welcoming about 25,000 visitors every week, making it one of the largest in Japan.

 

At the venue, seafood, fresh vegetables, fruits, and side dishes landed at Hachinohe Fishing Port. A wide variety of products such as coffee, sweets, bread, and antiques are sold. There are also stores that offer food such as rice cracker soup and ramen.

 

The event is held from dawn to 9:00.

 

Access to the site is a 10-minute walk from Mutsu Minato Station on the JR Hachinohe Line. In addition, there is a circular bus that connects the 13th town in Hachinohe City to the morning market venue. Isaba " is available. There are four buses from 5:55 in the morning.

 

The representative of the organizer said, "While the number of visitors is increasing year by year, we have a system in place to accept 30,000 people this year.
