Tokyo Metropolitan Government provides travel support to the disaster-stricken areas of Fukushima Prefecture - 3,000 yen per night for accommodation, 1,500 yen for day trips

From April 2024 to March 31, 2025, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will provide travel assistance through the "Disaster Area Support Tour" for residents, employees, and students in Tokyo with the aim of promoting tourism in Fukushima Prefecture.

In the disaster-stricken area support tour, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will provide support for overnight trips for up to two nights at 3,000 yen per night and 1,500 yen per day trip when purchasing travel products with the theme of "Hope Tourism" in Fukushima Prefecture handled by about 100 travel agencies in Tokyo (see official website). Supporting documents must be presented at the time of application.

Travel support will be closed when the budget limit is reached. In addition, there is also a system to subsidize bus fares for group trips such as school trips and training camps. The Tokyo Metropolitan Government continues to support tourism in Fukushima Prefecture, which suffered the most severe damage after the Great East Japan Earthquake.

Fukushima Prefecture is focusing on "Hope Tourism," which is applied to tours to support disaster-stricken areas, as a new study tour that allows visitors to interact with local people and learn lessons from the complex disasters (earthquake, tsunami, nuclear disaster, and reputational damage) that occurred in Fukushima Prefecture.
