The small ground piano with a depth of 120 cm used in the concerts of the Hamamatsu City Museum is estimated to have been made after 1936 to the design of Mr. Ohashi Hataiwa (who died in 1980 at the age of 84), who is considered to be a genius piano craftsman in Japan. It was produced at Japan Gakki Mfg. (now Yamaha), where Mr. Ohashi worked before establishing the "Ohashi Piano Institute" (closed in 1995) in Hamamatsu City.

This concert will provide a special sightseeing program that tells the story of Mr. Ohashi's piano design. The pianos that are usually exhibited at the Hamamatsu City Museum are in an enclosure, and the main roof and keyboard lid are closed.
On the day of the event, the directors of both the Hamamatsu City Museum of Musical Instruments and the Hamamatsu City Museum explained about the piano with Mr. Ohashi. A pianist living in Hamamatsu will be in charge of the performance, and the MC will also perform a reading of Mr. Ohashi's upbringing.

The participation fee is 1500 yen, and the capacity is 80 people. To apply, visit the dedicated site "Hamamatsu-Hamanako Daisuki Net ( A little trip Accepted at. The concert time is 17:30~19:30.

This is the first time that a ground piano has been played for tourists. The organizer of the event, the Hamamatsu-Hamanako Tourism Bureau, says, "We want people to learn about the music town of Hamamatsu through the experience of a rare piano."
