In recent years, due to the rapid increase in the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan, overtourism has become serious in some areas of Japan. This has increased the burden on the lives of local residents and the natural environment, and has led to soaring prices. However, the problem of overtourism is not only due to the increase in tourists. There are multiple factors at play, including policies, local acceptance systems, media coverage, and the PR methods of travel agents.

In this contest, we are looking for opinions and solutions to overtourism from a wide range of people, including travel enthusiasts, people involved in the tourism industry, foreign residents in Japan, and foreign tourists visiting Japan who are staying in Japan for a long time in Japan. The first round of judging will be conducted by the editorial department of Good Travel News Communications, and the winners of the second screening will be decided by the votes of local government tourism departments, tourism associations, and tourism business volunteers.

Last year's The first contest was held. Then, after Corona ended, we solicited thoughts on travel in Kawayanagi and tanka, and we received about 1200 entries.

Good Travel News News conveyed the significance of the contest, saying, "We hope that the contest entry will be an opportunity to investigate the background of overtourism, and write a work about what you think and what kind of solutions are available," and regarding the planning of the prize travel support, "The only people who know about the Japan Tourism Agency's overtourism countermeasure project are the organizations and businesses that use the subsidy. We wanted people to know what kind of measures the national and regional governments are taking and whether they are working, so we have incorporated travel support that has become familiar during the Corona disaster."
