Scotch Malt Sales Co., Ltd. (Itabashi-ku, Tokyo) established "Tokachi Sake Brewery Co., Ltd." in Makubetsu-cho, Tokachi Region, Hokkaido, and opened the membership site "Tokachi Whisky Club" on June 21, 2024.

Tokachi Shuzo was established with investment from Hasegawa Sangyo, which operates furniture stores in Hokkaido, and Shinanoya Foods, which operates a supermarket in Tokyo. In the fall of 2025, the company plans to establish the Tokachi Distillery and start producing whiskey.
The Tokachi Distillery plans to work on making whiskey using local Tokachi ingredients. Bob Stockwell, who has experience in Scottish whisky distilleries, was appointed as the production manager. Introducing a distillation system from Forsyth, a famous Scottish machine, the company plans to produce 160,000 liters of distilled spirits per year, taking advantage of the climate of Tokachi to age about 800 barrels per year.
In addition to the standard sherry barrel-aged products, we have also released limited edition products using barley malt from Tokachi and red wine barrels used at Tokachi wineries. It will be sold through the company's existing sales channels, stores of invested companies, and e-commerce sites.
