Opened a "shaved ice specialty store" in Sasaraya, a famous rice confectionery store in Toyama – Providing ice from the melting snow of the Tateyama mountain range

Sasaraya, a long-established rice confectionery manufacturer in Toyama Prefecture that has been in business for 100 years, will open four stores of the shaved ice specialty store "Hi Sasaraya" during the summer season from July 1 (Monday) ~ August 31 (Sunday), 2024.

The ice used for shaved ice is ice from melting snow from the Tateyama mountain range, a famous peak in Toyama Prefecture, which is used to make rice snacks. There are four types of menus: "Strawberry Shaved Ice (1300 yen)" made with Toyama strawberries, "Matsucha Shaved Ice (1300 yen)" topped with matcha syrup and black beans, "Momo Kakigori (1500 yen)" made with peaches from Fukushima Prefecture, and "Sasaraya Fukumitsu Store Limited Share Happy Ice (2500 yen)" limited to 5 meals a day.

Shaved ice is served at the café space "Okomeyaya" attached to four Sasaraya stores in the prefecture (Fukumitsu Main Store, Nanto City), Tateyama Main Store, Tateyama Town, Toyama Fuchu Store, Toyama City, and Takaoka Store, Takaoka City. Service hours are 10:00~16:00.

Ice Sasaraya opened for the first time last year at the Sasaraya Fukumitsu main store, and it became a hot topic with a wait of up to 90 minutes. This year, in order to expand the number of stores where it is offered, the staff who were in charge of making shaved ice last year are currently visiting stores to train on how to make shaved ice.

Hinodeya Confectionery Industry says, "We want you to directly taste the deliciousness of the snowmelt water from the Tateyama mountain range, which is indispensable for making rice crackers, with shaved ice."
