Toyama Prefecture distributes YouTube video "Speaking of sushi, Toyama" - Promoting sushi in Toyama with Yoshizumi Ishihara
On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, Toyama Prefecture released a sushi-themed PR video titled "Speaking of Sushi, Toyama" on the prefecture's official YouTube channel. The video features the talent Yoshizumi Ishihara as a man who loves sushi in Japan's best Toyama.
Regarding Yoshizumi Ishihara's appearance, the Toyama Prefecture Branding Promotion Division explained, "The casting was decided because of the information that Mr. Ishihara enjoys sushi in Toyama Prefecture in private and the fact that he tasted sushi in Toyama on location for a Fuji TV program."
In the video, when a reporter asks Ishihara, "Why is sushi in Toyama?", Ishihara replies, "You'll know when you eat it!" I replied in a strong tone. Next, a scene follows where a foreign tourist eats Toyama sushi at Toyama Station and responds that it is delicious. At the end, Ishihara appears again and says, "Speaking of sushi, it's Toyama." The video was available in two versions, 1 minute 30 seconds and 3 minutes 44 seconds, and was produced by local Toyama TV.
Toyama Bay, the deepest part of Toyama Prefecture at 1,200 meters, is called a "natural cage" where a variety of seafood live. Since the fishing grounds are close to the fishing port, sushi ingredients are provided with fresh fish.
The Toyama Prefectural Branding Promotion Division explains the purpose of the video, saying, "In order to convey to the citizens of Toyama Prefecture and people outside the prefecture that Toyama's sushi is a world-class presence, we used the perspectives of Mr. Ishihara and foreign tourists visiting Japan."
