Takaoka City will hold the autumn festival "Market Street 2024", and the focus will be on the first "artisan tour rogaining"

The comprehensive craft and art event "Market Street 2024" held every autumn in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture will be held from September 21 (Sat) ~ September 23 (Mon), 2024. The event was organized by the Takaoka Craft Market Street Executive Committee.
"Market Street" is an autumn tradition in Takaoka City that has been going on since 2012. The main stage is the central city area (Yamamachi-suji, Onryoya), where the historic townscape remains, and you can enjoy craftsmanship and artwork of traditional industries, as well as local gourmet. Takaoka, located in the western part of Toyama Prefecture, developed as a castle town of Takaoka Castle, which was built by Toshinaga Maeda, the lord of the Kaga domain, and has recently entered a new development as an advanced manufacturing area in Hokuriku, where the tradition of casting and art that has continued since the Edo period are fused by young craftsmen.
This year's featured event is the inaugural "Artisan Tour Rogaining". Students from the University of Toyama's Faculty of Arts and Culture are involved in the operation, and this is a new kind of event in which students visit 15 factories and workshops in the city to interact with artisans and collect original coins. Prizes will be presented according to performance, and a wide range of people can enjoy it. From September 4th, 50 groups of participants will be invited to participate recruiting For more information on the conditions of participation, please visit the official website.
In addition, there will be a variety of events such as a craft market, art exhibitions by young artists, and an artisan bar. The organizers advertise that "you can know, experience, buy, and taste Takaoka's 400-year history, and we want you to enjoy three days where you can fully enjoy the charm of Takaoka."
