Mamait (Meguro-ku, Tokyo), a developer of child-rearing products, has started selling the 80g lightweight baby carrier "Ultralight Dakkort 80" on its official mail order site from September 2024 as a new product in the company's carrier series "Dakkolt".

The new product "Ultralight Duckolt 80" is lightweight at 80g and can be folded into the palm of your hand, so it is expected to be used not only for everyday use, but also for various scenes such as emergency supplies, travel, and outdoor activities. While using a soft nylon fabric, the patent-pending technology allows it to maintain its shape and is easy to wear on the shoulder.

It is lightweight but has high strength, and can be used for children from 6~7 months to 22 kg. When stored, it is very compact with a width of 13 cm, a height of 7 cm, and a depth of 4 cm, making it convenient to carry.

This new product is available in 8 different designs for use in different scenes. The suggested retail price is 9,570 yen including tax, and production is carried out at a factory in Japan, and craftsmen carefully sew it. Currently, it can be purchased on the official mail order site, but it is planned to be sold at stores in the future.

Mr. Funaki, the representative of Mamaite, gave shape to the idea that "it would be convenient to have such a thing" based on his own child-rearing experience, and developed the first baby carrier product in 2017. The background to the development of this new product, the Ultralight Duckolt 80, was the Noto Peninsula earthquake that occurred on New Year's Day 2024, and the desire of parents to reduce their luggage in the event of a disaster is understood.

According to a questionnaire survey conducted by Mamait on the occasion of the launch of the new product, about 90% of parents responded that they had experienced problems without bringing a baby carrier, and the company said that "there is a demand for a lightweight and compact baby carrier."
