Higashiomi City "Hina Doll Tour Transmitted to Merchant Houses" Held - Immerse yourself in the world of chicks in a quaint townscape

In Higashiomi City, Shiga Prefecture, February 8 (Sat) ~ March 16 (Sun), 2025, the traditional event "Hina Doll Tour Handed Down to Merchant Families", which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, will be held mainly in the Important Traditional Buildings Preservation District "Gokasho Kondocho". The event was held at 10 venues, including the Gozenso Omi Merchants' Mansion (Tomura Shigeya, Nakae Jungoro Residence, Fujii Hikoshiro Residence), the Omi Merchant Museum, the Nakaji Tojin Memorial Hall, and the Kindo Town Preservation and Exchange Hall. About 100 dolls handed down from generation to generation in merchant families and modern creative chicks are on display. Along with the historical buildings, you can enjoy the world of Hina dolls.

 

In addition, Mr. Toko, a hina master who continues to create in the Gozenso area, created "The Tale of Seikobina" based on the motif of the nature of Lake Biwa, and will have a special exhibition at the Nakae Jungoro Residence in the Gozenso Omi Merchant's Mansion. At each venue, a variety of hands-on programs such as chicks and matcha will be held (the date and time of the event must be confirmed in advance). In addition, a stamp rally will be held around all venues.

 

The admission fee is 300 yen ~ for adults and free for elementary and junior high school students ~ depending on each facility. Discounted multi-museum tickets are also on sale. Closed days vary by facility.

An ambassador dressed as a hina doll appeared at the "Ningen Hina Picture Scroll Festival"

On Saturday, March 1st, the "Ningen Hina Picture Scroll Festival" will be held at the Ubei Residence in Sotomura, the town of NIPPONIA Gozenso Omi Merchants. Higashiomi City Rainbow Ambassadors will show off their appearance dressed as gorgeous hina dolls. The event will be held twice at 10:30 ~ and 13:30, and the admission fee is 500 yen.

 

To get to Gozenso Kindocho, get off at Notogawa Station on the JR Biwako Line, take a 10-minute bus ride to Plaza Sanpoyoshi, and walk for 5 minutes. Get off at Gokaso Station on the Omi Railway Main Line and walk for 30 minutes.

 

Higashiomi City is promoting the event by saying, "We hope that you will visit various venues while looking back on the history of the special milestone of celebrating the 30th anniversary."
