On February 13, 2025, the World Expo Association announced the performers for the opening ceremony of the Osaka-Kansai Expo, which will be held on Saturday, April 12. The opening ceremony will be held at the EXPO Hall "Shine Hat" and the EXPO National Day Hall "Ray Garden" with only those involved, and NHK is scheduled to broadcast it nationwide.

The theme of the opening ceremony was "Re-Connect: Traveling, Resonating, Returning, Connecting." The World Expo Association explains, "In today's world, where social division is an issue, we will create a place to reaffirm the connection between humans, nature, and culture."
Performers from the music and kabuki worlds
The announced performers include Kobukuro, who is an ambassador for the Osaka Expo and sings the official theme song, and world-renowned conductor Yutaka Sado, as well as famous music groups and kabuki actors in Japan.
