Hakone Ropeway Introduces Japan's First Open-Air Gondola "ROPESTER" - Realized from Idea Three Years Ago

"ROPESTER" is a new attraction that has an open design with no window glass, and allows you to experience the great nature of Hakone as if you were driving in an open car in the air. The gondola car is an existing car body with windows removed.

 

The operation section is limited to one way from Togendai Station ~ Owakudani Station, and it is not possible to get on and off at Meko Station. There are four flights a day, and the meeting times are 10am, 11am, 2pm and 3pm. The maximum number of passengers per flight is 8, and reservations can be made for up to 5 people. Passengers must be 12 years of age or older (elementary school students and younger are not allowed). The fee is 5,000 yen per person, and 2,500 yen if you bring a special ticket such as the Hakone Free Pass. Payment will be made locally. This special "ROPESTER" service is a project to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the opening of the entire line in September 2025. The Odakyu Ropeway says, "The idea was born three years ago, and we decided to operate this special service after establishing operating rules that take safety into consideration."
