JR East Japan's "Adult Holiday Club" Yutaka Takenouchi becomes a new face—New TV commercial set in Fukushima and Aizu begins airing in March
On Wednesday, March 12, 2024, JR East Japan announced that actor Yutaka Takenouchi (54 years old) will be appointed as the new main cast of the advertising campaign for the "Adult Holiday Club," a travel membership service for people aged 50 and over.
From March 12th, station advertisements will be posted at major stations of JR East Japan. From Monday, March 24, a new TV commercial "Fukushima-Aizu" will begin airing in the Tokyo metropolitan area, six Tohoku prefectures, Nagano, Niigata, and Hokkaido. It will also be distributed on JR East Japan's official YouTube channel.
The new commercial tells the story of the main character, who is over 50 years old, and travels to Fukushima and Aizu with his wife while worrying about the gap between him and the "ideal adult image" he once envisioned. Through their travels, they find the answer to "becoming an adult in their own way."
The catchphrase is "All adults are on a journey." Ms. Takenouchi narrates the importance of finding one's own answers in the journey of life. The commercial will be aired in three versions: 15 seconds, 30 seconds, and 60 seconds.
The commercials were filmed in the Aizu area at "Goshikinuma Lakes and Swamps, Bishamonnuma" (Urabandai), "Aizu Domain School Nisshinkan" (Aizuwakamatsu City), and "Tadami Line Hayato Station" (Okuaizu).
Takenouchi won the Japan Academy Award for Best Actor for his 2002 film Between Calm and Passion. He is a talented actor who has won many awards, including the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor and the Toshiro Mifune Award at the Kyoto International Film Festival. He will appear in the NHK TV series "Anpan" that will begin broadcasting on March 31.
Speaking of commercials for "Adult Holiday Club", since the launch of the service in 2005, actor Sayuri Yoshinaga has appeared in the commercial, and a total of 71 commercials have been aired so far.
"Adult Holiday Club" is a credit card membership service that offers 5% and 30% discounts on tickets for the JR East Japan Line and JR Hokkaido Line as many times as you like. In addition to members-only discount tickets, the company offers a variety of programs such as travel products, various benefits, and events.
