Yosano Town, Kyoto Prefecture "Kaedani Festival" recruits participants to experience the festival such as carrying a mikoshi - going up and down 137 stone steps with a mikoshi weighing about 1 ton

The tourism association is looking for general participants for the "festival experience" at the traditional event "Kayadani Festival" to be held on April 26 (Friday) and 27 (Saturday), 2025 in Yosano Town, Kyoto Prefecture. This is the second time that participants have been invited to participate in the experience, following last year.

The Kaedani Festival is a festival derived from the spring festivals of each shrine in the former Kaetsu-cho and the former Nodagawa town. Among them, the highlight of the festival is the "Mikoshi Togyo" held at Tenma Shrine (Kaetsu District) on Saturday 27th, where the clan members carry a mikoshi weighing about 1 ton and go up and down 137 steep stone steps.

On the first day, Friday 26th, the "Yakushi Yatai Tour" was held in the Kaetsu and Arisho districts, where food stalls paraded around the town to the sound of flutes and drums, and local children also performed dances.

In this "festival experience", you can participate in the food stall parade from 13 o'clock on Friday, April 26, and the preparation and parade of the mikoshi from 13 o'clock on Saturday, April 27.

The participation fee is 1,000 yen for 2 days and 1 night (accommodation in an old folk house/miscellaneous sleep). Participants can also arrange their own accommodation (the participation fee is the same). In addition, a one-day one-day experience on April 26 and 27 is 700 yen.

To apply, Dedicated form Accepting from. Recruitment of applicants will be on a first-come, first-served basis, taking into account the overall operational balance.

The recruitment of participants for this experience is an effort to respond to the shortage of workers due to the aging of the population and to promote tourism. The Yosano Town Tourism Association is calling for participation, saying, "We want you to experience the fun and sense of accomplishment of the festival by actually moving your body and participating in it, not just watching it."
