Recruitment of participants for a guided tour of pruning by gardeners in Ritsurin Park, Kagawa - Held on May 18, 2025, capacity about 160 people

On Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Ritsurin Park, a special scenic spot in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture, a guided tour "The Essentials of Tree Pruning" will be held with demonstrations and explanations by park gardeners. The program is designed to allow participants to learn pruning techniques for trees up close, mainly pine trees.

On the guided tour, a gardener from the Kagawa Prefectural Landscaping Division will appear and explain the daily maintenance that supports the beautiful scenery of Ritsurin Park with a demonstration. The target is trees, mainly pine, and you can directly touch the intuition of craftsmen, such as traditional pruning techniques and points for caring for garden trees.

 

There will be 4 sessions ((1) 9:20~10:20 / (2) 11:00 ~ 12:00 / (3) 13:20 ~ 14:20 / (4) 15:00 ~ 16:00). Each session has a capacity of about 40 people, and participation is free, and you pay an entrance fee to the park. The entrance fee is 410 yen for adults and 170 yen for children. On the day of the event, it rained a little.

 

If you wish to participate, please fill in the address, contact information, names of all participants, and desired time by May 7 (Wednesday). Park Management Office Apply by e-mail, postcard, or fax (telephone is not allowed). Up to 4 people can apply for one representative. If there are a large number of applications, a lottery will be held. On the day of the event, 10 minutes before each session, reception is accepted at the East Gate of Ritsurin Park and Kamoba Gate.

 

Ritsurin Park is a daimyo garden built by the Matsudaira family, the lord of the Takamatsu domain, in the early Edo period. "Tips for Tree Pruning" is a popular annual program that provides a valuable opportunity to experience the garden culture inherited from the Edo period and its daily skills.
