Saitama's Arashiyama Town "Ranzan Lavender Festival" opens on June 6 ― Overcoming the damage caused by the extreme heat, starting again with new seedlings

The "Ranzan Lavender Festival" will be held at the "Millennium Lavender Garden" in Arashiyama Town, Saitama Prefecture for 17 days from June 6 (Friday) ~ June 22 (Sunday), 2025. Last year's extreme heat damaged half of the entire lavender, so the seedlings were replanted. This year will be a year of fresh starts.

The planted varieties are mainly Lavantine "Grosso", which is resistant to heat and humidity and has high aromatics. On a site of about 4.7 hectares (one Tokyo Dome), about 20,000 plants and 10 types of lavender are spreading. There is also an observatory and a photo spot in the park.

Lavender is considered to be a plant suitable for cool regions, and the Millennium Garden Lavender Garden, which is located in the hot and humid environment of inland Saitama Prefecture, has originally cultivated mainly the "Grosso" variety.

However, after the 5th festival was held in June last year, many stocks were damaged by the record-breaking heat wave that hit the Japan archipelago from July ~ August. This year will be a year of new challenges for those involved.

The tour fee is usually 500 yen, but this year it will be free of charge, and a cooperation fee system will be introduced instead. The idea is to "enjoy this year's flowers and support them for next year."

There is also a weekend-only picking experience and limited sweets using lavender

On Saturdays and Sundays during the exhibition, in addition to the "lavender picking experience", craft experiences such as making sticks, flower baskets, and bottled flowers will be held (each experience fee is 1,000 yen).

In addition, sweets and snacks made with lavender are available. In addition to lavender soft-serve ice cream, smoothies, jellies, etc., you can also enjoy lavender-colored anpan with the branding of the Arashiyama Town mascot "Musashi Arashimaru".

To get there, take the Tobu Tojo Line from Ikebukuro Station and get off at Musashi Arashiyama Station (about 1 hour), and then take a bus from the station for about 10 minutes. Shuttle buses run on Saturdays and Sundays.

The park is open from 9:00~16:00 (last entry at 15:15).

The organizer, the Arashiyama Town Tourism Association, said, "We would like to welcome everyone with even more mature lavender next year, and we hope that by seeing this year's restart, you will feel even more attached to the lavender in the garden." Talking.
