Four giant pandas raised at Adventure World in Shirahama, Wakayama Prefecture, will return to the Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Research Base in China's Sichuan Province on Saturday, June 28, 2025. A farewell ceremony will be held from 4 p.m. on Friday, the 27th.

The names of the four horses are (from left to right): Ryōhin Yuihin Saihin Fuhin 。 At 24 years old, Liang Hama is the first giant panda born at Adventure World, and since he is approaching old age, Chinese experts have decided that it would be preferable to live in China, where there is a better medical system and a calmer environment.

Yuihama (8 years old), Ayahama (6 years old), and Kaedehama (4 years old) are all children (daughters) of Ryohama who return to China to look for a partner in order to breed in the future.

Prior to the departure of the four pandas, Adventure World will hold a farewell ceremony on Friday, June 27 at 16:00~16:45 at the park's Big Ocean. Details of the ceremony will be announced at a later date.

In addition, the four animals will enter the isolation and quarantine period from May 26 (Monday) ~ June 27, and will be open to the public through the glass during this period.

Since 1994, Adventure World has been working with China on a joint giant panda conservation project, and 17 pandas have been born at the zoo so far. With this return, pandas will only be seen at Tokyo's Ueno Zoo in Japan.

"We hope that the four animals born and raised in Shirahama will be healthy in their new place, and we will continue to discuss with the Chinese side with the aim of continuing the joint project and making further contributions," Adventure World commented.
