Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture|Enjoy the taste of winter "Anko Fair" and "Anko Festival"
In Itoigawa City, Niigata Prefecture, the "Anko Fair" will be held at 28 target stores in the city from December 1 (Wednesday) ~ March 31 (Thursday) with the theme of anko caught in winter. In addition, from Sunday, January 23, the "Anko Festival" will be held at special venues in three districts of the city for three consecutive Sundays.
During the Anko Fair, a total of 28 stores, including hot spring accommodations, inns and hotels, restaurants, and retailers in the city, will serve dishes made with winter anko from Itoigawa. Please refer to the special website for details and prices for each participating store.
For three consecutive weeks on 1/23 (Sun), 1/30 (Sun), and 2/6 (Sun), the Anko Festival will be held every week at a different venue (Itoigawa → Nosei → Aomi) to sell anko soup (500 yen per cup) and demonstrate anko hanging cutting. Hours are 10 a.m. ~ 2 p.m. each day. A free shuttle bus will be available at Itoigawa Station on January 23, and a free shuttle bus will depart from Itoigawa Station on January 30 and February 6. Parking at each venue is limited.
During the fair, if you post a photo of anko cuisine with "#けっこうあんこう" and "#糸魚川" on Instagram, 20 people will be selected by lottery to win Itoigawa's specialties.
Itoigawa is a place where red bean paste is landed throughout the year. Winter bean paste tightens and tastes better.
