Kurokawa Onsen in Kumamoto|Winter hot spring light up until 4/3|Tube lanterns in the river are back
The Tourist Ryokan Cooperative Association of Kurokawa Onsen (Minamioguni Town) in Kumamoto Prefecture will hold its annual winter illumination "Yuakari" in the hot spring town and the surrounding Minamioguni Town until April 3 (Sun) next year.

The illumination event was started in 2012 to solve the problem of neglected bamboo forests in satoyama. Lanterns and 2-meter-high lanterns are placed in the hot spring town, and the lights are turned on from nightfall to 10 p.m. The highlight of the recent winter is the decoration of the tube lanterns in the middle of the Tanohara River, which flows through the hot spring town. It was held in the early days of the event, but it was temporarily canceled, but it will be revived this year for the 10th year.
