Echigo to Kimeki Railway|Theme park opened in Naoetsu where you can ride the steam locomotive "D51 827"
From March 19 (Sat) ~ December 4 (Sun), Echigo Tokimeki Railway will open a railway theme park "D51 Rail Park" where you can ride a moving steam locomotive in Naoetsu, Joetsu City, the birthplace of railways in Niigata Prefecture.
Steam locomotives (SL) operated in this area until the early 40s.
At the park, you can experience riding the caboose "Kankyusha" (yo) pulled by the SL "D51827" that still works today. The facility houses a hangar for locomotive fans, a turntable that changes the direction of locomotives, and a 413 series train in the JNR Express color.
Business hours: 9:45~16:30. Admission is 1,000 yen for adults and 700 yen for children.
Access is a 3-minute walk from Naoetsu Station on the JR Shinetsu Main Line.
