Heal yourself in the light of the Genji fireflies in a natural park in the hot spring area of Higashi-Izu
On the night of May 31 (Monday) ~ June 4 (Friday), 2021, Otakegasawa Park in Okawa Onsen in Higashiizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, the 19th "Higashiizu Machi Onsen Village Firefly Viewing Evening" will be held to appreciate the spectacle of Genji fireflies. The event is hosted by the Higashiizu Town Tourism Association.
Otakegasawa Park is a natural park in the mountains. There are 100 ponds in Shizuoka. Every year in June, you can see the fireflies coming to the park and emitting beautiful light.
During the event, you can experience the "Chinese Lantern Walk" (19:30~20:30) where you can enjoy watching fireflies while walking in the dark with a lantern in hand.
For local access, take the Hotaru shuttle bus (outbound 19:10~20:05, return 20:10~21:00) from the nearest Izu-Okawa Station to the venue in 5~10 minutes. Please note that private parking is limited.
Corona disaster, unlike previous years, the period was shortened, the event was held only on weekdays, and the night store was canceled. If you wish to visit, please check the official website for precautions.
