Saga Prefecture|Nagoya Castle Museum in Karatsu opens the "Golden Tea Room" to the public|Experience program around summer
On Sunday, March 27, Sagaga Prefecture restored the "Golden Tea Room" used at Nagoya Castle (present-day Karatsu City), where Toyotomi Hideyoshi was based, in the Nagoya Castle Museum, which is located near the castle ruins, and opened it to the public.

The restored golden tea room is 3 tatami mats in size and consists of 75 components. It is characterized by the use of 16,500 pieces of gold leaf with a purity of about 98%. The production period is about half a year. You can watch it at any time from the dedicated area, and you are free to take photos and post on social media. In addition, we will provide a program where you can experience matcha and sweets in a tea room around summer.
Nagoya Castle was built as a base for Toyotomi Hideyoshi in Hizen, and was a castle where Tokugawa Ieyasu, Date Masamune, and many other daimyo gathered. Saga Prefecture is making efforts to make the special historical site "Nagoya Castle Ruins and Jinruins" and the Nagoya Castle Museum a base for cultural tourism.
Admission to the museum and the tea room is free. The museum is open from 9 a.m. ~ 5 p.m. The museum is closed every Monday and during the year-end and New Year holidays.
The person in charge of the Saga Prefectural Cultural Affairs Division said, "The Golden Tea House is a cultural revival project, and I want you to actually see it and think about Hizen Nagoya 400 years ago." I say.
