From Monday, June 27, Oita Prefecture and Himejima Ecotourism have started recruiting participants for the pre-monitor tour of "Yuru Tabi in Himeshima", a new tourism style that uses electric mobility. The tour will be held 8 times from July 7th ~ August 31st.

"Yuruhime in Himejima" is a tour of the island's geosites and seven wonders by traveling around the island in an electric mobility vehicle (4~7 seats), eating a "Himejima special bento" that uses a special product, car shrimp, and visiting the island's geosites and seven wonders. During the tour, online sightseeing tools and guides will guide you to sightseeing. Wheelchair-accessible electric mobility is also available.
The event will be held on July 7, 14, 21, 28, 8/4, 18, 25, and 31 for a total of 8 times (Thursdays except the last day). The time is about 4 hours between 11:20 arrival ~ 15:20 departure from Himeshima Port by ferry. Participation is free (including electric mobility, boxed lunches, guides, and ferry fares). Access is about 40 minutes by car from Oita Airport to "Imi Port" where the ferry departs and arrives at Himeshima. There are only a few local buses that are difficult to use. It takes about 20 minutes by ferry from "Imi Port" to "Himeshima Port".
Himejima is a remote island north of the Kunisaki Peninsula in Oita Prefecture, at the western end of the Seto Inland Sea, on the border between Suo-nada and Iyonada. It is certified as a Japan Geopark, and geotours around lava domes and crater ruins are popular. Himeshima Ecotourism says, "There are few restaurants where you can have lunch on the island, and there are problems with transportation, so this time we will examine a new style of tourism."
