Japan tea café opened in Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, which is popular in the city where you want to live|Kaleidoscope gallery on the 2nd floor
On Saturday, August 27, in Nagareyama City, Chiba Prefecture, the Japan tea café "Hachaya Teradenen" will open in a repurposed 130-year-old private house. It is operated by DMO Co., Ltd., Nagareyama Tourism Design, which is a tourism area development.
"Hachaya Teraden" opened on the first floor of "Teradenen Tea Shop", which was built in Meiji 22 and sold tea and other products until Showa 38. At the same time, "Kaleidoscope Gallery Misezo", which was on the first floor until February this year, will open on the second floor. The building is designated as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property.
The café menu includes blended tea from the Sakurai Roasted Tea Research Institute, a Japan tea specialty store in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, and a menu devised using "mirin," which is familiar to Nagareyama. There is also a corner selling tea leaves and household goods.
The restaurant will have an eat-in (20 seats) and a garden space after opening. Business hours are 10:00~18:00. Closed on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month (closed the next day on public holidays). Local access is a 5-minute walk from Nagareyama Station on the Nagareyama Line.
Nagareyama City has ranked first in population growth for five consecutive years (census). Historically, from the Edo to the Meiji period, the area flourished due to the water transportation of the Edo River and the birthplace of white mirin. In the area around Nagareyama Honcho, where Teradenen opens, the use of old folk houses is currently progressing.
