The name of the new sightseeing route connecting the two most unexplored areas of Toyama Prefecture has been decided to be "Kurobe Unazuki Canyon Route"
In 2024, Toyama Prefecture has announced that the name of the new sightseeing route connecting the Kurobe Gorge "Keyakidaira" and the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route "Kurobe Dam" will be "Kurobe Unazuki Canyon Route".

The name "Kurobe Unazuki Canyon Route" was decided through 7,049 public applications. The route connects the 18 km area between the "Kinpei Station" area, which is about 1 hour and 20 minutes from the first departure of the Kurobe Gorge Railway, "Unazuki Station", in the Unazuki hot spring town of Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, and the "Kurobe Dam", which is the fastest in just over 2 hours on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route from "Tateyama Station" in Tateyama Town. The route is a redeveloped construction route managed by Kansai Electric Power Company (Kurobe Gorge Railway parent company). We will observe the trajectory of power supply development on storage battery locomotives and power trolleys.
The construction route is an area that is not accessible to anyone other than railway construction personnel, but it is close to the mountaineering route, which is said to be a sacred place for some mountaineers.
The operating company of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is a private company funded by Toyama Prefecture and Toyama City. The new sightseeing route project is being developed by Toyama Prefecture and Kansai Electric Power Co. through an agreement. "The specific opening date and details of the acceptance system have not yet been decided" (Toyama Prefecture).
