Craftsman picture book of Tokigawa Town, Saitama Prefecture is on sale|Tour and work experience program planned
On Monday, May 31, 2021, the Tourism Association of Tokigawa Town, a mountainous area in central Saitama Prefecture, will release the "Tokigawa Craftsman Picture Book (1,100 yen)" to introduce people who are active with the spirit of craftsmanship as defined by the town.

The artisan picture book was created to create connections between people inside and outside Tokigawa Town and to make children proud of the community. When the first issue was published in February last year, 2,000 copies were almost sold out, and now the second issue will be produced and sold.
The definition of a craftsman is "a person with a craftsman's soul who lives and lives with deep commitment in Tokigawa Town." In addition to tofu, bread, and kumiko artisans and potters, there is a wide range of business owners, priests, and local government officials. The illustrated book can be purchased at direct sales shops and stores in the town, as well as at the hometown tax payment site "Furusato Choice" and the online shop "Country Bookstore". It can also be viewed at the National Diet Library in Tokyo and Osaka.
The Tokigawa Town Tourism Association has started a radio and YouTube channel with tours of artisans and artisans appearing in the wake of the publication of the picture book. We are planning a program where children can experience work at an artisan shop.
Introduction of Tokigawa Town
It was created in 2006 by the merger of the former Tamagawa Village and the former Miyako Ikugawa Village. A village is formed along the first-class river "Toiku River" that flows from the mountains of Oku Musashi. Various healing sightseeing spots with a height difference of 800m are popular. It takes 1 hour and 30 minutes from JR Shinjuku Station to Myokaku Station.
