【Okinawa Remote Island Report (Second Half)】Kerama Islands "Aka Island" that is perfect for weekend travel
On the weekend from Tokyo, you can spend time on the island slowly without being pressed for time, depending on which island you want to go to, your access plan, and your attitude. I hope you find this report of 2 days and 1 night on Aka Island helpful. Yesterday, Saturday, April 15, was the day of the opening of the sea in Zamami Village (Aka Island, Zamami Island).

It's already the last day.
( First half of the repo The next morning, I woke up just before breakfast at 8:00. I didn't take a picture like that, but the cute home-cooked food in Okinawa is delicious and energizing.
Today is only the second day, but it's the last day. The decision on whether or not to allow the high-speed boat to sail will be made after 8 a.m., but it will operate as scheduled. If so, take the last high-speed boat that departs at 5 p.m. on the way back. Before that, there is a ferry that departs at 14:30, but the return flight departs at 20:30, so there is plenty of time. Also, the inn is checked out at 10 o'clock, but I can use the room until the time of the boat. I am very grateful.
On the last day, the weather was so good that the islanders said it was rare these days. The summer-like sun shines on the sea and village roads. It's a great day to spend on a remote island.
Yesterday, I enjoyed sightseeing on Aka Island on a rental bicycle. In return, I put up with beer during the day. Instead, they have already achieved great results by conquering Kerama Airport and Nishihama Beach, which are located at both ends of Akashima tourism. So today, I started drinking beer in the morning.
Walking around the village of Aka Island
Let's take a walk around the village today. First, we headed to the nearest observatory from the village, the Amagusuku Observatory. It is 1 km from the port and can be reached in about 15 minutes. There are four observatories on the island, but Amagusuku is close to the village. From the observatory, you can see Kerama Blue, the island's collaboration, and the village. When I saw this, I was really glad that I came to Aka Island.

After looking at the village from the hill, let's walk through the village. Yesterday, I rode my bicycle around the village, but I didn't walk on my own for the most part. Let's walk around the village today.

Reliable shops in the village

On the way, I wondered how many villages I walked, stopping for lunch and resting in my room. I walked in the same place over and over again. Before I knew it, it was past 4 p.m. and I returned to the inn. I packed my luggage after breakfast, so there was no work. You can walk to the port, but you will have to drive to the port. We left the inn 10 minutes before departure, and in the short time to the port, we talked about the island, the bad air on the Koshu Highway, Tokyo, and the staff's outlook.
At 5 p.m., a high-speed boat departed from Aka Island. About 50% of the seats on board are filled. I was surprised that there were so many travelers on the island. There is a remote island. After that, when we passed through Zamami Island, the seats and decks of the ship were filled with passengers. More than half of them are inbound. It's kind of understandable why they choose Zamami Island over Aka Island.

After 6 p.m., I arrived at Tomarin and headed to Miebashi Station on the monorail. If you take the monorail, you will be at Naha Airport in 15 minutes. The waiting time at the airport was also moderate. We departed Naha at 20:45 and arrived at Haneda at 23:00. As on the outbound trip, I couldn't take the bus to Shinjuku at 23:30 because it took a long time to pick up my baggage, but I left the airport on the last bus at 23:50.
The Kerama Islands are perfect for weekend getaways
I don't have enough time to go from Tokyo to Ishigaki or Miyako on weekends. The Kerama Islands can have a rich island time depending on how you manage it. Next time, the world will be in the off-season, and the local area will be a high season weekend, and this time I would like to go to Zamami Island. After that, we went to Tokashiki Island. The islands make you want to look at the next island.
This time, we were able to do a case study where you can spend a relaxing time on the remote islands of Okinawa on the weekend.
Please refer to it.
Kerama Islands National Park
The sea in Kerama is impressive in its deep blue, which starts at the edge of the waves, and is dotted with coral groups that are so diverse that they can be seen from the land. You don't see marine debris or plastic bottles on the beach or at the fishing port. The Kerama Islands are protected not only by islanders but also by literate Kerama fans, and environmental conservation and information dissemination are active. I only picked up a few centimeters of cloth in the village, but more than that, I felt that the place had become cleaner, and I felt like I was participating in environmental conservation.
In 2014, the Ministry of the Environment designated the Kerama Islands as Designated as a national park The largest national park in the country was born. "The high level of awareness of environmental conservation among the islanders is a major factor," according to the Okinawa Office of the Ministry of the Environment.
Kerama Islands National Visitor Center "Sango Yuntakukan"
This is a facility that also serves as the Zamami Village Tourism Association, and is responsible for sango conservation activities and information dissemination. In addition to introducing the Kerama Islands through panels and VTRs, they also offer coffee, café lattes, caramel macchiatos, and other items at reasonable prices. It is a facility where you can learn about the Kerama Islands well, so please stop by.
