【Report (second half)】Day 2 of Ise-Shima, making Shima indigo dyeing T-shirts and sightseeing at the observatory

In mid-May this year, after staying for 2 days and 1 night at "The Glamping Plaza Ise-Shima BASE" on the Shima Peninsula in Mie Prefecture, I will report on the Shima indigo dyeing experience of making T-shirts and sightseeing at the observatory on the second day.

( First Half of the Articles After checking out at Ise-Shima BASE, a 4-5-minute walk to the Ise-Shima vegetable farm Ray's Farm What I do is to participate in the "Shima Indigo Dyeing T-shirt Making Experience" that comes with this accommodation plan (21600 yen ~). The experience time is about 1 hour and 30 minutes from 10:30 after check-out.

This farm cultivates "Tade Indigo", which is a raw material for dyeing, and through indigo dyeing using it, the "Shima Indigo Dyeing" brand is disseminated.
This experience was interesting. The workshops are mainly for women, but men can also enjoy making T-shirts here. It is an item that can make T-shirts with designs that men like and actually wear them.

After the ray's farm, we drove around the Shima Peninsula and stopped at a fishing port to repeat fishing. For the time being, I had brought a fishing rod, so I served my purpose, but there was no catch. I don't have an obsession with fishing, I just put my rod out to sea. It's not particularly interesting, but you can still keep fishing.

Before I knew it, the time was past 15 o'clock. Realizing that he had not yet seen the famous scenery of Ise-Shima's Rias coast, he suddenly began to get impatient. I hurried to the observatory to take in the view.

Shima Two Observatories

First of all, I visited the Kirigaki Observatory. Located at the end of the road by car, there are no people at all, and it is a quiet place. When I look through the binoculars I carry with me on my travels, I feel that the ocean is close enough to reach me. The guidebook said that the sunset was the highlight, but we didn't have time this time, so let's head to the next observatory.

Next is the Yokoyama Observatory. On the Shima Peninsula, this is probably the No. 1 popular tourist destination. The view from this observatory is the view that became famous in the wake of the Mie Summit. From an altitude of 140 meters, it overlooks the Rias coast and has a café terrace. It has a strong tourist feel and is quite crowded, but if you stand in front of the observatory, you will see a beautiful view of the Rias coast. That cut is right in front of you now!

The view of Ago Bay from the two observatories is wonderful! However, there is no difference in the scenery, but the difference in popularity is clearly different. Again, I think that the convenience of transportation and the content of the facilities are related, but I thought about the results of tourism branding using national events.

Shima Peninsula Rias Coast and Road Conditions

After leaving the Yokoyama Observatory, I got a little lost and stopped at a day-trip hot spring at a hotel near Ugata Station. Reflecting on the day while taking a dip in the hot springs, I realized that although the Shima Peninsula is surrounded by the sea, I didn't often drive along the coastline while driving, so I didn't always feel the sea. It seems that it is necessary to aim for the seaside and the observatory with the sea in mind. Even though the surrounding area is supposed to be the sea ... I wonder why.

When I asked the Ise-Shima National Park Association about this, they said, "The Shima Peninsula is a series of rias-style coastlines where small peninsulas are concentrated, and the main roads are connected at the base of the small peninsulas. It's a very straightforward answer.

I have visited the Rias Coast all over the country, but on the Shima Peninsula, there was a situation unique to this area that I did not feel in other areas. The Rias coast of the Shima Peninsula is like a maze of intricate details. If you have the opportunity to visit the Shima Peninsula, you should not rely on navigation but survey the coastline in advance to understand it.

【New】Summer activity experience starts

In July, we received a notice from "Ise-Shima BASE" about an activity experience for the summer. First of all, you can play with stag beetles and horseshoe beetles that gather when you shine a large light on the grounds at night. Just sign up at the reception desk and get a flashlight and an insect basket for free. In addition, you can enjoy a fishing experience at "Kenjima Fishing Park Kaiyuen", which is about 6 minutes by car (3500 yen for 2 hours, available for 3 people). You can catch gorgeous fish such as bream, yellowtail, and black bream, and you can also eat the fish you caught.

In addition, there are accommodation plans that include diving experiences and sea kayaking experiences that allow dogs to accompany them. If you use Ise-Shima BASE this summer, you will have smooth access to various experience plans other than BBQ.

last time Following that, I enjoyed my first indigo dyeing experience and rich nature at Ise-Shima BASE. During my stay, I touched a smiling and relaxed person in Shima. Even if you travel to the countryside rich in nature over and over again and come to understand it, the speed will increase when you return to Tokyo. In the first half of the journey, that speed tends to be brought in. This time, too, I was frustrated by the failure to choose the outbound route, but as I wrote the article, I remembered the people of Shima and remembered the feeling of relaxation. Next time, first of all, let's not make a mistake in choosing a route.
