In the first part, we report on Friday night until we entered Yonago in Tottori Prefecture. In the second part, I will report on sightseeing spots and fishing ports that I traveled back and forth between Tottori and Shimane prefectures for two days on Saturday and Sunday.

Enter Sakaiminato|From there to the Shimane Peninsula
At 8 a.m. on the second day, pick up a rental car near Yonago Station and head to Sakaiminato. The weather was drizzling. Avoid the rain and start fishing with a rod from the car. They are just being fed by small fish. When I got out of the car and started fishing seriously, I caught a little rockfish. There seems to be a flock directly below, and if you keep going, you can catch as many as you want.
The rain lifts and we move to the Shimane Peninsula. While fishing, enjoy a maniacal local fishing port sightseeing. At first, I wanted to go to a sightseeing spot, so I headed to "Jizozaki" at the eastern end of the Shimane Peninsula.

An inn in a good location between Sakai Waterworks and Mizuki Shigeru Road
After enjoying fishing and a tour of the fishing port, 宿「Destiny in SAKAIMINATO」 Head to. The location of the inn was on the street between Sakai Waterworks and Mizuki Shigeru Road. It is a unique guesthouse type inn with rooms ranging from small Japanese-style rooms to family-friendly rooms. It seems that they have taken over the inn that was originally run by the family of the current owner in Tokyo and changed it to the current style. I was impressed by the fact that Sakaiminato was said to be a comfortable place to live.
Dinner is near Sakaiminato Station, which is a 2-3 minute drive from the inn. Local supermarket "Marugo" Buy sashimi and side dishes at. There are a wide variety of fish species of sashimi, and most of them come with a half-price sticker (laughs). I was fortunate enough to purchase a Ishidai figure. It is my favorite in Thailand.
After eating, I fished until about 1 a.m. at the Sakai Waterway, but unfortunately there was no part-time job. I was most expecting night fishing, but it is difficult. The next day, I heard that it was still early.
Locals' Recommendation|To the direct sales facility

I sat down and started chatting with the mother of the shop. I explained why I came to Sakaiminato and told them that I wanted to go sightseeing today. "Today, the Sakaiminato Seafood Direct Sales Center will reopen, so you should go there." Last night, I heard about it from the innkeeper and was thinking about it. The two people who took care of Reporter O in Sakaiminato introduced us to the same facility. I'm ready to go.
I checked out of the inn after 9 o'clock. We head to the first day's point to do some light fishing before going to the farm-to-table facility. On the way, when you pass through the facility before it opens, many people have already gathered on the site. Does this mean that the opening of this facility is a major event for the entire city?
Sakaiminato Fishery Products Direct Sales Center|Demonstrating the true power of Kanitori Prefecture
Around 11 o'clock after fishing, Sakaiminato Fishery Products Center Head to. Cars are waiting for their turn at the entrance to the parking lot. The fairly large parking lot is full. Reporter O parked his car in a parking lot a short distance away and walked back to the facility.
The plaza of the facility is crowded with people gathering for the performances of the taiko drum team and the all-you-can-pack fish bags. I've heard the phrase "It's been a long time since I've been at an event."

The inside of the facility has a high ceiling and a sense of spaciousness. The star of the seafood sold at each store is snow crab (until June 30 of the fishing season). The price is more affordable than the famous brand pine needles (*snow crab).
Tottori Prefecture has named itself "Kantori Prefecture", and it was a sales floor that made sense.

Other than crabs, oysters caught my eye. We went around the hall and decided on a target. It's time to buy food and have lunch.
Sakaiminato's proud "Mizuki Shigeru Road"
Next, head to "Mizuki Shigeru Road". It extends about 800m from Sakaiminato Station in the direction of the fishing port. On the streets, in addition to Kitaro and the Rat Boy, various bronze statues, whether they are yokai or ghosts, are placed at intervals of several meters. On the roadside, souvenir shops and restaurants selling commercialized works are lined up. Take a look at a few of the many works.

Next is about 10 minutes from "Mizuki Shigeru Road" Eshima Bridge This is a steep bridge known for its solid footsteps. The bridge connects Sakaiminato City, Tottori Prefecture and Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and crosses the Nakaumi (brackish lake), the fifth largest lake in Japan. The river flowing from the depths of the "Nakaumi" is connected to "Lake Shinji" (brackish water lake). Lake Shinji is known as Japan's largest catch of shijimi.

When photographing a solid slope
The steep slope is on the Shimane Prefecture side. Reporter O traveled from Tottori Prefecture to Shimane Prefecture. After going down the bridge, make a U-turn at the huge parking lot of a convenience store at the end of "Nakaumi" and then go up a steep hill. The slope didn't go as far as stepping on it. Before I knew it, I was over the hill and it was a blink of an eye.
As for my impressions, I liked the experience of gradually approaching the top from the side from Tottori Prefecture. Once I had experienced driving, I entered Shimane Prefecture again to take pictures and parked the car. I walked to the intersection in front of the bridge and took a picture. Last sightseeing|Fishing port along the northern tip of the Shimane Peninsula
After the Eshima Bridge, traverse the Shimane Peninsula to the north and head to Katae Fishing Port. The time is 15:30 and the rental car is returned at 18 o'clock. Start calculating the return.
Once I entered the satoyama from the road that passes through the "Nakaumi" with a good view, I went out to sea shortly after I went to the "Katae Fishing Port". The location is close to the ferry port "Class 7 Port" that I visited yesterday, but at that time, I headed to the eastern end of the Shimane Peninsula on the other side. "Katae Fishing Port" is the opposite, roughly speaking, in the direction of Izumo.

Reporter O prefers smaller harbors where the harbor and the fishing village come into view together. I visit here for fishing, but I am always healed by the architecture of the fishing port. The atmosphere of "Katae Fishing Port", which I came to by guessing, is my favorite among the ports I stopped at on this trip. As for fishing, I caught a cute mini scorpionfish. Again, it leaves a good impression on this fishing port. Yonago Station "O-platform"
Return the rental car before 6pm and head to Yonago Station. The train departs from Yonago Station at 18:35 and goes to the last stop, Sakaiminato Station. The plane arrives at Haneda at 22:15, but arrives around 10pm. When I returned to Tokyo, I felt grateful for those 15 minutes.
On the last day, we were able to visit various places. If you have a late flight home, you can use the whole day. I think it would be great if we could incorporate weekend trips that depart on Friday night and return on Sunday nights on a daily basis. Oki Islands
During the trip, I was curious about the ferry that caught my eye. Next time you come here, be sure to Oki Islands I think I'll go to. To get to the Oki Islands, you can take a ferry from Tottori Prefecture (Sakaiminato) and Shimane Prefecture (Class 7 Port) of the same company ( Oki Kisen ) is out.
